Scotty B. grew up in inner-city Detroit, where bass vibrations resonated through the walls of gospel churches. To the ears of an 11-year-old on the streets, it was a moving, awesome sound that he not only appreciated, but yearned to create himself.

Though he’s grown in eighteen years as a professional musician, he still has a special place in his heart for gospel music and the influence it’s had on him. His tastes have grown to encompass very different genres- he plays everthing from jazz to rock etc...

The four-string bass is an infinite tool in his hands. “I’m able to express myself in unlimited ways through the bass,” he says. He also says he enjoys the camaraderie so integral to the music business. No wonder he says that! Look who he’s shared the stage or studio with:

B.B. King, Scotty Moore, Etta James, Joe Walsh, Aaron Neville, Rufus Thomas, Jerry Lee Lewis, Color Me Badd, Chad Smith (Drummer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers), The Preston Shannon Band, Graham Lear (Drummer formerly with Santana), Ruby Wilson, Little Jimmy King, the Mississippi Mass Choir, and also:

In Memphis, Scotty spent two years as a member of the house band at B.B. King’s Blues Club and was a session player for just as long at the world-famous Sun Records Studio.
